How to Style A Coffee Table

How to Style a Coffee Table.

I haven't really done any table styling in the past few years because it's hard to keep it up with little kids.  Coffee tables quickly turn into rockets or battlegrounds for batman v. superman or the perrrrrrfect spot to build a lego pet village.  For now my compromise is to keep a few pretties tucked neatly in a tray that can be quickly removed when the kids are playing.  I dream about the day when I can lavishly display my favorite coffee table books and candles and plants again.  But then I'll miss the train hiding inside the foilage and the joker locked in jail in my candles.

I thought it might be fun to show how I would style a big square coffee table.  For a rectangle table I would just pick three of the four sections above into three zones.  For a small table or a side table, pick just one of the above choices and you're all ready to roll!

The major thing to remember is to keep the stacks proportioned equally in both area and height.  You want it to look eclectic but still neat and organized.  I tend to stay away from tall items like flower vases and large picture frames because they distract my view but I do admire how they look in rooms on pinterest.  I also like to keep all the smaller items corralled onto a tray.  Big fan of trays.

Check out my favorite coffee table books.  I love to collect them from places I've traveled and they make great gifts.
