Living Room Re-do
My girl
Caycee asked me to come up with an inspiration board to help her pull together her living room. Updating an existing space with no real parameters besides a sweet complimentary, "Come up with anything. I like your taste". Y'all know this is my jam. Of course Caycee's got an adorable home and I've been there in person so I know the style of the house and flow of the adjoining rooms which is always helpful.
I created the design around this painting I made for
Tagg's nursery bringing in all the soft colors of the Lowcountry to soften up the room. She is a Charleston girl, after all.
I also suggested that
Caycee purchase new matching club chairs in a soft creamy oatmeal color to flank the fireplace. I know she plans to keep the leather couch for now so we just brought in soft neutral pillows in light colors to soften the sofa up. I also think that chaing mai dragon print pillows are a must. The pattern plays off all our the dark and turquoise perfectly! I also suggested adding a nice thick trim to the existing window treatments to give them more impact and swapping the gallery wall and the oversized mirror. Rather than the small frames and floating shelves, I'd do three large scale pictures above the couch. Individuals of both of her kids and one family shot in the middle. I'd also spray paint that silver mirror to a nice glammy gold! I'd keep the existing rugs, I like the large seagrass and the smaller layered cowhide. I've got plans to style her existing coffee table as well! But the end table is too dark and too big so it's got to go. Sorry Caycee! I'm also already on to her breakfast nook, she just doesn't know it yet!
Oh, and here's the before. Great bones and some good pieces, it just needs to be pulled together and elevated to a level that fits the stylish owner.
I can't wait to see how this space transforms.
